Sources and changing information

We prioritize original material from the California Public Utilities Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, the IRS and other organizations responsible for the subject. Source links appear with each guide.

The check date identifies when the linked material was reviewed for that edition. It is not a promise that tariffs, program funding or product availability will remain unchanged. A publication date alone does not make an older claim current.

Guidance applies to the geography and circumstances described. A rule for a named utility is not silently generalized to every California electricity provider.

Explanations, comparisons and AI assistance

Each item identifies its source publication date, location and status: an announcement, explainer, analysis or research result. We distinguish those dates from application deadlines, effective dates and commercial availability. Our practical interpretation appears separately from the reported development.

We write original summaries and link to the full sources. An older story is not made new by a fresh crawl date. Previously covered material returns only when a substantive development justifies an update. If there are no useful verified developments, we skip the issue instead of filling it with recycled headlines.

Past editions retain their dates and should be read in that context. New issues are prepared as drafts and published after editorial review.

Corrections and future editions

Material changes to rates, incentives or technical guidance should trigger a review of affected passages and their source dates. Future revisions should explain substantial corrections rather than merely changing the date.
